Dr. Ekere, Emah is a distinguished scholar in international politics and diplomatic studies, dedicated to advancing knowledge in global governance, foreign policy analysis, and international political economy. Philosophy of the Department

The philosophy of the International Relations program is to develop globally-minded analysts who understand the complexities of international affairs. Our curriculum integrates theoretical frameworks with practical knowledge of global systems, preparing students to analyze international politics, economic relations, and diplomatic processes.

We emphasize critical thinking, research skills, and ethical engagement with global challenges. The program aims to produce graduates who can contribute to foreign policy formulation, international organizations, and global civil society while understanding Africa's position in the international system.

Global Analysis
To develop expertise in international relations theories and global systems
To cultivate understanding of foreign policy formulation and diplomatic practice
To foster awareness of contemporary global issues and Africa's international relations
Practical Skills
To train students in policy analysis, diplomatic protocol, and international negotiation
To develop skills for research in international affairs and global governance
To prepare graduates for careers in diplomacy, international organizations, and global business
(UTME)
Minimum of five credits at Ordinary Level in GCE, SSCE, or equivalent examinations. Credits must include English Language, Government/History, and three other Arts or Social Science subjects. Combinations from WAEC/NECO at not more than two sittings are acceptable.
UTME subjects: English Language, Government/History, and any other two Arts or Social Science subjects
Successful completion of Obong University's post-UTME screening and interview
Direct Entry
Two Advanced Level Passes in Government, History, Economics or related subjects plus credits at Ordinary Level as specified above
Diploma in International Relations, Political Science or related fields with minimum Upper Credit
